Heather J. Macklin's Bio
For nearly 20 years, Heather has focused her practice on complex commercial litigation. She has represented clients from a broad spectrum of industries, including financial institutions, luxury good retailers, real estate developers and small, closely held corporations.
She has extensive litigation experience in a wide variety of legal disputes, including trademark infringement, copyright infringement, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties and non-compete agreements to enforcement of intellectual property rights, fraud and insurance coverage.
Heather understands that corporations are not in the business of litigation, but sometimes litigation is unavoidable. When commercial disputes do arise, she believes in a pro-active, focused and well-prepared strategy, designed with the goal of finding a practical and economic resolution, so her clients can quickly get back to their primary business objectives. When early resolution cannot be achieved, however, she will diligently and aggressively represent her clients’ best interests.
Kathryn Blom's Bio
Katie Blom understands she is in a unique position to use legal skills to help clients solve business problems. This philosophy guides her in all areas of representation. She rarely tells her clients “no,” preferring instead to work with them to determine how they can accomplish goals within the confines of the law, helping clients identify practical and effective solutions.
A large portion of Katie’s practice is focused in the area of Mergers and Acquisitions (“M&A”), where she represents both buyers and sellers who are considering or engaging in the process of transitioning their company. She advises clients with respect to Letters of Intent, CDAs/NDAs, due diligence, definitive purchase agreements (stock or asset transactions), purchase price allocations, warranties and representations, indemnification (baskets, caps, etc.) and other challenging topics. Her significant experience and calm demeanor allow her to navigate even the most difficult transaction, at all times in pursuit of her client’s end goals.
Beyond M&A, Katie serves as a trusted adviser to her clients providing sophisticated yet understandable advice in all areas of business law, including contracts, financing, and commercial real estate. Finally, Katie also has a passion for working with charitable organizations. Once called the “Queen of Non-Profits” by a client, Katie is able to simplify the process of working with the Internal Revenue Service and the State, helping organizations obtain the desirable 501(c)(3) status.

Alexis Merbach's Bio
Alexis focuses her practice exclusively on business law, including business valuation, asset protection and planning, exit/succession planning, trademark, and contract/commercial law.
Alexis is also involved in the firm’s proactive law services/program. Proactive law is the process of (1) identifying structural, organizational, and legal issues a business is experiencing; (2) assessing short- and long-term business goals and needs; and (3) creating a client-specific action plan to remedy any outstanding business and legal needs so as to meet goals and increase success. Simply put, it is a well-rounded combination of business consulting and legal services that provides clients a real-world, hands-on way to increase the effectiveness and success of their business operation.
Alexis is familiar with “real-world” legal issues and experiences. Prior to joining Epiphany Law, Alexis clerked for a nationally ranked intellectual property law firm in downtown Milwaukee and was an integral member of the Marquette University Technology Transfer and Corporate Engagement Offices. These experiences and opportunities allowed Alexis a first-hand look into the corporate and legal world(s) and have enabled her to synthesize the two areas effectively and provide practicable, well-rounded, accessible, and “different” solutions to clients.
